The bomber jacket, created in 1930, returned to fashion again a few years ago and has since confidently maintained its position as a leader among outerwear. Many people mistakenly believe that this wardrobe item can only be combined with a tracksuit or jeans. This season, the bomber jacket can be worn with absolutely everything - with lingerie-style dresses, pencil skirts, and midi-length sundresses. In summer you can't do without a bomber jacket. This is an ideal option for cool evenings when you want to look stylish, but not spoil the look with a knitted sweater or a simple denim jacket. Our review includes eight stylish bomber jackets for any occasion.

Classic bomber jacket

Few people can be surprised by classic bomber jackets with contrasting sleeves, but season after season they find themselves on the must-have lists of many fashion bloggers. This option is suitable for a walk in the park or a morning jog, or for every day instead of a windbreaker. A classic bomber jacket goes with almost anything, but preference should be given to denim skirts, jeans,

Perhaps, one of the best jacket styles for spring and summer is the bomber jacket. These lightweight styles go with everything and you'll want to wear them without taking them off.

Light bomber jackets

Perhaps this statement will seem strange to residents of warm countries, because there they wear them in winter, and in the hot months they take off everything they can.
But we don’t have the Canary Islands, sometimes the Russian summer can be such that you can’t get out of your jacket, so such models will be very useful in our wardrobe.

The bomber jacket (aka pilot) appeared a long time ago, in the thirties of the twentieth century. At first it was the clothing of pilots of American bomber planes (hence its name). It was a short model with a zipper, knitted collar, cuffs and belt. The collar is a small stand-up shawl.

In the fifties, such a jacket ceased to be military clothing and became very popular among young people. Back then, images of tough guys and girls in black glasses riding motorcycles were fashionable.

Since then, the bomber jacket has always been present in the fashion range. The style remains almost the same, only the colors and fabrics change. It also has one important feature: the style of this jacket is suitable for almost any person, regardless of gender, age, build, etc.

Classic bomber jacket

Sports bomber jackets

The most popular are bomber jackets in a sporty style. Their collar, belt and cuffs are decorated with contrasting stripes: black and white, blue and white, etc.
These jackets are especially loved. They make the image sporty, energetic, youthful and fit. They go well with sporty items: jeans, skinny trousers, leggings, shorts. But today the situation has changed, the requirements have become less strict. Nowadays, the trend of fusion (mixing styles) is popular. It allows you to combine things more freely, so today such jackets are also worn with silk dresses and wide skirts.

Materials

Bomber jackets dark

Satin is often used to sew bomber jackets. More precisely, fabric with a shiny texture. The fact is that they were originally made from nylon, but since then the adherence to the shiny material has remained.

But they are also made from soft materials with a matte surface, for example, suede, it looks noble. The surface of the bomber jacket can also be quilted. In general, options are possible.

Jacket colors

Classic bomber jacket colors are black, dark blue, dark cherry, dark green.
But now the palette has expanded: there are jackets in khaki, beige, white, light gray, etc. Some of them look quite elegant and can even be used in business life.

Hit of the season - models with prints

Printed bomber jackets

This season, bomber jackets with prints on a light background are especially popular. Floral patterns are in great favor; such patterns make the image very feminine.
Sometimes the print is combined with a quilted surface, this makes the jacket especially soft and cozy. Sometimes embroidery is used instead of a print, but this is less common.

Ethnic patterns are at the peak of popularity. The jacket you see in the photo on the right is made of fabric with Indian motifs.

What to wear and combine with

Previously, bomber jackets were supposed to be combined mainly with jeans. Now the range of options has expanded. Such jackets can be worn with narrow or fluffy skirts, feminine dresses, and trousers of various styles.
The same applies to shoes. Bombers are worn not only with sneakers and sneakers, but also with military boots, high-heeled shoes, and espadrilles (shoes with rope soles). But this, of course. doesn’t mean you can put on whatever you like. In order for unexpected combinations to look stylish and beautiful, they must be carefully selected.

Bombers are short embroidered satin and sateen jackets that are so popular this spring that the runways look like the runway. This year they are shown by Chloé and are made by all brands: from luxury (especially Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent and Gucci) to affordable Zara, which most of us will be content with.

Interestingly, bomber jackets can actually be worn with almost anything (and anyone): they are versatile and affordable. Perhaps because they have a surprisingly complicated - and not entirely glamorous - history... However, it is so intriguing and unusual that after reading it, anyone (and everyone) will most likely also want to get an embroidered bomber jacket - even if it wasn’t his favorite item of clothing.

Bombers: a complex men's story

Let's start with the fact that bombers were originally a men's type of clothing, but... not so glamorous, but rather utilitarian-nostalgic. Unlike most trends, which seem to emerge initially from the "whims" of fashion and do not inherit any specific point of origin or plot, bomber jackets are clearly traced through history - not just fashion, but also war. (Yes, yes, in fact, the very name of the jacket is a derivative of the word “bomber.”)

Presumably, the origin of the bombers can be attributed to the image of a single person - an American soldier, some of whom were stationed immediately after World War II in the occupied Japanese city of Yokosuka. This soldier (his name, unfortunately, history has not preserved) came up with a great idea: take his bomber pilot jacket and take it to a local tailor to have it embroidered, thereby turning a symbol of war into a serene and beautiful souvenir. When his co-workers were able to look at this unique piece of clothing, they decided that they would like to have something similar to take home with them as a souvenir. And all the soldiers from the unit began to take their aviation jackets to local craftsmen for decoration.

This was probably a somewhat strange situation for the local population of Japan (and the American military themselves) - to embroider the clothes of the occupying army with stereotypical symbols of their people: geishas and eagles, cherry blossoms and dragons... Sometimes, at the request of customers, bomber jackets were also decorated with maps military campaigns. (At the same time, bombers were almost always reversible - and if a soldier wandered into a location where it was extremely undesirable to demonstrate his military exploits on his back, the jacket could always be turned inside out.)

One way or another, all American military personnel began to take their jackets to Japanese craftsmen in order to turn them into jewelry. At the end of World War II, many men and women from the United States served in Japan - they all wanted to return to their native land as quickly as possible, but orders are orders... And so preparing memorable gifts for themselves and their close friends and relatives became one of the few available entertainment options. Using their clothes as canvas, they ordered souvenirs for themselves. The embroidered aviator jacket trend quickly became popularized and developed as soldiers began carrying personal items and other clothing items for modification or decoration. Local tailors were given not only government-issued jackets, but also shirts, which were decorated and embroidered with various texts and images.

The custom soon spread to other American military bases in Japan, with local craftsmen making their own versions of bomber jackets for sale - and the trend of these embroidered military jackets literally exploded. As demand outpaced supply, Japanese tailors began creating jackets from leftover parachute silk and other fabrics not originally intended for clothing. Soon they began to be worn as civilian clothing. Materials, colors, cut and design - all the details of bombers have begun to develop and change over the years. Soon enough, their female version also became popular. Surprisingly, in the 1960s, bomber jackets were worn by Japanese gangs. Teenagers soon followed suit: wearing an embroidered American pilot jacket, they demonstrated an act of rebellion that may have horrified their parents who lived through the war years.

20 years after the occupation of Japan, young soldiers who served in the East, but in a different military arena, similarly wanted to keep souvenirs for themselves. But instead of cherries and escort girls, their jackets often showed maps of Vietnam and slogans like: “When I die, I will go to heaven, because I served in hell.”

By the beginning of the 21st century, bomber jackets had changed greatly, “overgrown” with other symbols, meaning and aesthetics of street style, and many of them do not contain decorative elements at all. Well, in Japan, embroidered aviator jackets are still known under the name Sukajan: some fashion historians decipher the etymology of this word as “Sky Dragon Jumper,” which in Japanese means “Dragon soaring from the sky.” However, others believe that it is a combination of two words - the locality "Yokosuka" plus and the word "Skydiver". This is an abridged and simplified story of the origins of the Sukajyan - bomber jackets popular among both men and women for more than half a century.

Bombers: inexhaustible popularity

These utilitarian "pieces of history" are still in demand and are in great demand among both collectors (vintage) and fashion lovers (new). Bombers are a chic example of personalized clothing: bright jackets, decorated with intricate embroidery in different color variations, show the character, history, preferences, views and even philosophy of their owner to the outside world.

The fashionable power of these items of clothing may be explained by the fact that they were able to contain the imbalance of power between the winner and the vanquished, which gives them an additional transgressive charm, because by their very appearance in the history of fashion, bombers showed that it is possible to combine the incompatible - the tastes of the occupier and traditions defeated.

And, of course, the aesthetic factor played an important role in this: bomber jackets are incredibly beautiful. Well, at least most of them.

First, you need to decide what kind of style it is and in what wardrobe style it will find its application. In the understanding of fashion designers, a women's bomber jacket is one with a wide elastic band along the bottom edge. In fact, it is designed to reliably protect against cool winds and not let in heat. We usually choose a traditional leather women's bomber jacket - this is a win-win option in terms of practicality and wear resistance. You can believe that this style of jacket will not go out of fashion in the next 5-7 years, since there is no alternative to this successful solution yet.

Look at women's fashionable bomber jackets in the photo and read the recommendations of stylists - this information will help you make the right choice of model:

Such clothing was first introduced in the 30s of the last century as a uniform for aircraft pilots. Usually these were heavy bombers, which gave the name to this item of clothing. Today, this is a trendy style that goes well with both democratic jeans and a strict business pencil skirt. A similar jacket can be complemented by a long “floor-length” knitted or knitted skirt and classic ones. The only thing you shouldn't try to experiment with is ¾ cropped trousers, culottes and capri pants. In this case, the bow will look extremely unbalanced.

When choosing, you should pay attention to plain, strict models made of smooth, well-crafted leather with a zipper on the front. This is a universal item that suits any style of casual clothing. For lovers of exclusive items, we offer bright and sometimes even variegated models made in patchwork style from various scraps of fabric. Bright models are present in many collections of world design houses. They can be combined with jeans and plain skirts. You should not purchase such jacket options if you plan to use pleated skirts or trousers with graphic contrasting prints as the bottom.

What to wear with bomber jackets for girls and women (with photo)

The correct layout of a modern image is the key to success in any situation. Don't overload your bow with assorted parts. But mixing the two styles will be very relevant. What is it fashionable to wear bomber jackets with for girls and women in spring and autumn 2019? Look at the photo for examples of successful bows, looking at them you can understand that such a thing goes well with similar and opposite things in style:

A versatile look is achieved by combining straight-fit jeans and similar outerwear. Please note that pants should not be tight or tight fitting. In this version, the image will turn out to be somewhat vulgar and provocative. But choosing a skirt for such a jacket is very simple. You should immediately exclude only colorful and checkered models with a wide cut. But straight and fitted classics will all come in handy. A long knitted skirt with slits will look similarly chic.

Among additional accessories, you should give preference to beanie-type hats; voluminous knitted berets and hats will also look great. But they can only be worn in combination with voluminous hand-knitted scarves. This will emphasize the charm and create the impression of romance. As for footwear, both massive “army” boots and . Among the boots, you should choose ones that match the tone of the bomber jacket. The length of the boot can be up to the middle of the shin or up to the knee. Over the knee boots are not entirely appropriate in this case.

For a business style, a plain model with decor in the form of fringe and shiny zippers may be suitable. Patch pockets are more suitable for military style. When choosing a suitable bottom, you should pay attention to the contrast of the fabric texture. For leather, you can choose heavy drape or airy cashmere, thick knitwear and matte satin. Light dresses and skirts with small flowers, stripes, and polka dots are perfect for the denim model. All this is fashionable this season.
