We have a few days off in May. May weekend schedule

This year the May holidays were placed very conveniently on the calendar. May 1 fell on a Sunday and resulted in a day off on Tuesday, the third. None of the employers applied for Saturday on the last day of April, so everyone will receive a pleasant mini-vacation of 4 days (April 30 - May 3). Then there are three working days - May 4, 5, 6 - followed by a three-day weekend from the 7th to the 9th. The remaining Saturdays and Sundays in May will remain unchanged.

It's safe to say that on weekdays between the May holidays there will be few cars on the roads. Many of those who have time off, extra vacation days, or the opportunity to take days at their own expense will try to do this (and you, dear readers, can do it too!). As a result, they will get a full 10-day vacation with an economical “waste” of measured vacation days.

Holidays in May and more

Of course, guessing and calculating is not always convenient. There has been talk for several years about making the May holidays long weekends instead of New Year's. Still, relaxing in a relatively warm May is much more pleasant than in an unpredictable January: whether it will snow or not, whether the skating rinks will open or melt...

Alternative projects were also submitted to the Duma: for example, to leave only January 1, 2 and 7, May 1 and 9 as days off, cancel everything else and automatically add another 10 days to everyone’s annual leave. Or finally make December 31 a day off, because few people find it convenient to celebrate the New Year after waking up at 6-7 in the morning and working all day. But no decision has been made yet, and the May holidays remain separated by a “half-working” period of 3-4 days.

Have a nice holiday!

May is one of the most complete months in Russia in terms of days for rest.
This May 2016 will not be an exception!

This month we have only 19 working days, all others will be either weekends or holidays. As for shortened working weeks, there will be none this year in May. This is due to the fact that the ninth day of May falls on a Monday and will be considered a full day off, and the first day is on Sunday, which by default is already a non-working day, which means that any holiday falling on it automatically makes the next working day a day off.

So, let’s present graphically all the working days of May 2016:

4 5 6 10 11 12 13 16 17 18 19 20 23 24 25 26 27 30 31

From this line you can clearly see that we go to work for the first time in May on the 4th. We are also open on the 5th and 6th and then have long weekends until May 10th
Total this month we have 152 working hours
.

Weekends and holidays in May 2016

This May we have 12 full days of rest.
Of these, 6 days off (including 3 Saturdays and 3 Sundays) and 6 holidays, which consist of two Sundays (1 and 8 May), two Mondays (2 and 9 May), Tuesday - 3 and Saturday - 7 May.
To more clearly represent all weekends and holidays, let’s depict them graphically:

1 2 3 7 8 9 14 15 21 22 28 29

19 working days and 12 days off- in total, in May 2016, the weekend lost to workers by exactly a week.
Let us remember that in 2015 there was a more attractive arrangement: 18 workers versus 13 days off, and May 8 was then a pre-holiday, shortened working day, because it fell on a Friday.

Signs of May

There are quite a lot of signs in May, most of them, of course, related to the weather. Our ancestors planted their lands this month and relied on every natural phenomenon to help them get a good harvest in the fall. Therefore, over the course of many years, they were able to identify a number of patterns in nature, which we most often call “signs”.
So here are some of them:
  • It is believed that if May is rainy, June will be sunny and low in humidity.
  • Heavy hail in May - all summer there will be heavy short-term rains, but without prolonged cloudy days.
  • If the number of cockchafers is high, expect excessively dry weather in the summer.
  • Foggy May means rich harvests in autumn.
  • Traditionally, there are two cold periods in May - during the flowering of bird cherry and oak.
  • Rainy May - dry September.
  • Hot beginning of May - damp end.

Traditionally, it so happens that a large number of weekends in our country fall not only at the beginning of the year and the first month of spring, but also in May. Therefore, many of our fellow citizens are interested in the question of when to relax during the May holidays. Also, many people want to know how many days off there will be in May. Now these questions can be answered quite simply, since deputies determine the weekend schedule in advance. By making some of the days of May days off, they hope that our fellow citizens will spend this free time usefully.

Russians' interest in the number of days off in May is due to the fact that some politicians have recently made statements in which they talk about the need to take initiatives to gradually reduce the number of holidays. Such decisions, according to some politicians, will help avoid the phenomena of continuous drunkenness into which some fellow citizens throw themselves. However, the majority of the country's population does not yet support such initiatives. Therefore, the number of days not only does not decrease, but also increases.

This year, Spring and Labor Day, celebrated on May 1, falls on Sunday. Based on the norms in the law, it should be postponed to the next day. This means that May 2 will be a holiday, which means a day off. At the same time, if we focus on the government decree, which determined that the day off Saturday, January 2, was moved to Tuesday, May 3, it turns out that citizens working five days a week at the beginning of the last month of spring will have four days off. Thus, on April 30, May 1, 2 and 3, they can enjoy their holidays and go about their business. With a six-day working week, three days are allocated for rest - May 1, 2 and 3.

Another holiday that falls in May is Victory Day, sacred to Russians, celebrated on May 9. This year it falls on Monday. In anticipation of it, there are two days off for people who work a “five-day week.” This way they will have three days off. They will be free from work on May 7, 8 and 9. For those people who work a six-day workday, rest will be limited to only two days - May 8 and 9.

Thus, it can be stated that those of our citizens who work on a schedule five days a week will have more days off. Not only will they have more days off. In addition, the week between holidays will be shortened. Thus, at the beginning of the month they will receive four days off - from Saturday 30 April until 3 May. Then you will have to work for 3 days. Their last working day will be May 4. Workdays will begin on Wednesday, May 4 and end on Friday, May 6. After this, the weekend will begin - from Saturday 7 May to Monday 9 May. Citizens who work a five-day week will return to work on May 10. There are no other holidays in May.

The production calendar will tell you how we rest and how we work in May 2016. In it you will find information about the May holidays, find out the number of working days and days off in the last month of spring.
