The Year of the Rooster is coming very soon, and many will want to decorate their Christmas tree with the symbol of the coming year. In this master class I will share my pattern and show you how to sew a cute felt cockerel.
To work you will need:
- Felt.
- Beads.
- Golden threads.
- Lace.
- Gold outline on fabric.
- Glue (if you are concerned about toxicity, you can do without it).
- Threads to match.
- Vanishing marker, scissors, needle, filler.

Glue together all the feathers of the tail and wings.
I do this to make sewing more convenient and the parts don’t fall apart in my hands. You can use a different glue, sew the feathers together or leave them separate.
We sew together the parts of the body and sew on beads with gold threads in this way:
We also sew wings. Trace the top part on felt and cut it out.
Using a blanket stitch, we connect the parts of the wings and stuff them.
We sew the body, starting from the neck, sewing in all parts of the head. After the head is stitched, we mark the place of the eye and stick the thread from the inside.
We fill the head completely, make a couple of strings all the way through and sew on the eyes. We take out the thread from the comb, making a knot, and hide it back.
We make a knot in the lace and sew it into the neck. If the lace is like mine, it is important not to hit it with a needle (the gold winding will break and the lace will be ruined). To ensure that the cockerel hangs evenly and does not lean forward, we pull it to the head with a few stitches, as in the photo.
We finish the body along the edge, sewing in the tail and legs. We fill the body and sew on the wings.
We paint the sections of the beak and paws with a golden outline, otherwise all the ends will fluff up.
All you have to do is wait for the outline to dry, and you can decorate the Christmas tree with a cockerel :)

The last elements of the rooster are sewn on the three elements of its tail.
When sewing them in, each fragment should be slightly overlapped with the previous one. 
The lower part of the toy is not treated with a seam. First, you need to put the required amount of padding polyester into the cavity of the figure to give the felt rooster volume. 
And only after this is done, the lower edge of the figure is sewn with the seam already described, thus completing the work of assembling the toy. Ready!

- White threads, needle, scissors.
- Form for cutting out hearts. Not a necessary tool, but using it will make the hearts straighter. You can buy uniforms not only at a craft store. For example, baking molds for heart cookies are suitable. In principle, in order to apply an even outline to the fabric (for subsequent cutting), you can make a shape yourself - from thick wire or a strip of flexible metal. To do this, you just need to bend them in the shape of a heart and secure the ends.

Cut out 2 large hearts from white felt for the body of the cockerel.
We cut out 9 smaller hearts from felt of different colors - red, yellow, blue, purple, etc. Of these, 5 hearts must be red. From them you will get:
- comb;
- goatee;
- 2 wings;
We use one red heart as tail feathers - to support the color.
We begin to collect the bird from the body. To do this, sew two white hearts. You can sew with different stitches, but in this case the seam with a needle over the edge looks more decorative. For ease of work, you can first baste the parts with a regular seam, and then cover the figure with decorative stitches.
As we work, we sew 5 multi-colored hearts in place of the tail, half overlapping them one on top of the other.
We sew in the cockerel's comb and beard.
We roll up a beak from a small piece of yellow felt and also secure it with a needle.
Sew wings on both sides of the heart.
Through the hole in the recess, fill the body of the cockerel with padding poly (you will need a little of it).
We insert a ribbon into the hole, folding it into a loop, and finally sew up the toy.
We have created a beautiful, pleasant, warm and bright symbol of 2017.
