Decoupage of a corrugated bottle. Decoupage bottles with your own hands using napkins, paper, tights, eggshells

When, after another holiday, you cannot throw away the bottle because the shape of the vessel is very interesting, it means that the feeling of beauty has overcome the arguments of reason or you already have an idea for decoration.

Your soul requires a creative act - decorating bottles with your own hands.

At your service there is always a master class in the company of a master or an online version of the work process. Design ideas can be seen on forums where needlewomen share their achievements. A simple way to decorate is decoupage with photos. After processing, a picture, photograph or postcard is pasted onto the bottle. There are many techniques and master classes where bottles are decorated with twine, salt, leather, ribbons and even tights.

Paint the bottle

In order to get a taste for decorating, simple manipulations with the object are enough. Elementary decor of glass containers is made with your own hands using paint. A transparent object can be painted inside or outside.

For interior painting, pour acrylic paint into the bottle using a syringe without a needle and rotate the bottle to achieve a dense coating on the interior.

As an interesting idea, you can paint the inside of the container in several colors. To do this, each color layer should not cover the entire surface, but only a part. The colored decor of the bottle adds mood to the interior.

The outside of the bottle is painted with a sponge or brush. Pre-treat the vessel with alcohol and apply acrylic paint using tangential movements. For white acrylic paint, purchase several toners or use gouache - mixing colored toners with a white base, get the desired shades and create colored bottle decor.

Painted bottle - the basis for decoration

You can quickly decorate an interesting-shaped bottle with your own hands using ribbons and lace. Make a small bow from ribbons, sew them onto a lace base, add a brooch, beads and place it on the neck of the vessel - an exclusive decorative item is ready!

A bright and sparkling effect is achieved using improvised materials, such as salt. Treat the outside of the prepared bottle with glue and sprinkle with salt with large crystals, carefully place on a flat surface until completely dry. Decorating an item with salt is appropriate for a winter or New Year themed interior.

If a continuous layer of salt seems boring or you need to decorate several areas with salt, then apply glue only to those places where sparkling is needed and cover with salt. A master class on this topic will help in mastering the technique.

Once again about decor

Even just by painting a bottle with your own hands, you can achieve an incredible effect of silver or gold gloss, shimmering with the lights of a New Year's fairy tale, covered in carnival sparkles or a vintage treasure.

To get a stylish effect of gold/silver plating on a future art object, it needs to be prepared. Preparing glass for subsequent decoration with your own hands, at the initial stage, is the same for any painting method: the object should be washed, dried, degreased and treated with a universal primer.

The prepared glass vessel can be painted. Car paint in a can is suitable for these purposes. It should be sprayed at a distance of 15 centimeters from the object, in the open air or on the balcony.
If you don’t have a spray can, purchase gold/silver acrylic paint from hobby stores or hardware stores. Use a foam sponge to apply. You should paint using point-to-point (tamping) movements, leaving a mark on the surface, not a stripe; the surface will be smooth, without streaks.

Gold, like silver, can be colored, i.e. has several shades, which makes working with these paints exciting.

You can complement the decor in several ways. For example, wrap the thick part of the container with lace, securing it with a glue gun. Or partially wrap it with twine, colored threads, or beads. Glue on hearts or ribbons. Decorating bottles is a fun activity, and you can use all available materials for each idea.

Decoupage of bottles with napkins (master class)

A popular technique for decorating bottles is decoupage. Attend a master class on decoupage and you will fully appreciate the technique.

Simple manipulations with napkins, decoupage cards or printed pictures allow you to get a charming decorative item of exclusive design.

The easiest way to decorate an object is to paste a cut-out picture. To get a taste for handmade work, visit a master class on the technique you are interested in and find ideas. Prepare the container as described above, select the scene you like (from a postcard, magazine, decoupage card), cut it out and stick it on the surface. Add accessories, brooches, beads, ribbons, gluing them with your own hands using a glue gun. Sometimes that's enough.

Decorating bottles with a more fundamental approach requires preparation; a master class will always come in handy. For the technique in the classic version, a colored layer of napkin is used. That is, a three-layer napkin requires only a layer with a pattern; the class of the napkin is also important - it must have a bright pattern.

To work you will need:

  • decoration object;
  • universal primer;
  • acrylic paint white and colored;
  • toners or artistic gouache;
  • acrylic varnish (art or construction);
  • brushes, sponge for tamponing;
  • napkin with a pattern.

Stages of the master class:

  1. Prepare the glass container (wash, degrease, prime).

  1. Paint the bottle to be decorated with white acrylic in two layers using the padding method using a sponge. Dry after each application.

  1. Using nail scissors, cut out a design from a napkin or tear it along the contour. If the drawing is on a white background, you can deviate from the outline, the white part of the napkin will merge with the background on the object.

  1. White color is not always suitable for your idea and therefore any other color can be applied to a white surface. If you're new to decoupage, use light, creamy shades to add color. With a dark background, napkins require extra work. Dry the surface.

  1. Place the drawing with the paint layer facing up and apply acrylic glue (you can use acrylic varnish) over it with a brush, try to avoid wrinkles and bubbles. You must act quickly and carefully. Dry.

  1. When you have glued all the drawings, you can begin the final design. Decoupage of bottles is completed by applying three layers of varnish and drying. Use fine sandpaper to sand the surface and apply a final layer of varnish. DIY bottle decoration is complete!

Not only decoupage

Having mastered simple decoupage of bottles with napkins, you always want more. The smooth surface of the bottle does not provide texture, which can be used to achieve a more interesting effect. You can create an interesting surface with tights or stockings. A master class on this type of decor can be found on the Internet.

To do this, cut one part from a pair of tights, soak it in a mixture of PVA glue and water (1 to 1 ratio) and put it on the bottle. Lay out coattails, waves, any texture.

Instead of tights, you can use decoupage with fabric; the procedures for materials and techniques are similar.

Leave a few spots flat to apply the napkin. Dry completely, prime with a special compound or acrylic paint. Now you can decoupage the bottles, tint them, bring your ideas to life, or leave them as is.

Another way to get texture: wrap the bottle with threads; colored threads are quite suitable for sewing of different thicknesses. Colored thread decor is also quickly obtained when using cotton yarn for knitting.

Using alternately threads of different colors you can get a very stylish decorative item; secure the threads with PVA glue. The decor of bottles with twine and threads should be varnished and used as a vase, or you can prime, paint and stick on napkins.

Leather for decoration

Decorating bottles with leather is one of the most beautiful opportunities to recycle leftover leather or outdated jackets, boot tops and get an interior item for home decoration. You can decorate any glass surface with leather. To work, you need Moment type glue, tweezers, scissors and a knife, as well as imagination.

To make folds, the pieces of leather need to be soft. A detailed master class can be found on the Global Network. Coat a bottle and a piece of leather with glue, apply the leather to the surface and form folds.

Working with leather is a little more difficult than decoupaging bottles with fabric, but folds are also formed directly on the glass bottle.

The formed decor should be given time to dry completely and, if desired, additionally painted, gilded, or glued on other elements - it all depends on the idea.

Coins are suitable for decorating a piggy bank; a beautifully made thick cork would not hurt for a gift wine container; it is also trimmed with leather.

Don’t throw away empty beautiful bottles; with their help you will create a unique art object for your home. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s decorating bottles using decoupage technique, leather finishing or dyeing, uniqueness and creativity are the most important things in decorating.

Decoupage of bottles with toilet paper is a fashionable technique, the foundations of which were laid many centuries ago. Novice craftsmen are attracted by the simplicity of work and the availability of materials for crafts. But to create a truly unique thing, it’s not enough to just cut out or lay out a picture, stick it on the surface and cover it with varnish.

Decorating bottles with toilet paper is considered one of the simplest types of decoupage. It is with the work of turning containers for various drinks into works of art that veterans advise beginners to begin. In addition to this material, fabrics, napkins, wood, leather, coins, shells, cereals, old tights, threads and ropes are also used.

Whatever material you plan to use, the stage of preparing the basis for creativity looks the same:

  1. Select capacity. Contrary to popular belief, it does not necessarily have to be of some bizarre shape or extraordinary beauty. The point of the work is not to present the finished vessel effectively, but to turn the most stale bottle into something masterpiece.
  2. Boil the vessel.
  3. If the label does not come off during boiling, remove it mechanically.
  4. Rub the glass a little with the finest sandpaper. You don’t have to do this if you have complete confidence in the prepared glue.
  5. After using the skin, the bottle must be rinsed and then allowed to dry.
  6. Degrease the vessel with any alcohol-containing composition, vinegar, or solvent.
  7. Wait until the smell goes away along with the volatile substances.

Once the base is ready, you should take an inventory of tools and consumables. You will definitely need varnish, a sponge, and brushes. Depending on the type of material, the glue can even be pencil glue, but it is best to take liquid glue - construction PVA can be considered ideal.

Paper fairy tale

The very word “decoupage” came to Russia back in imperial times from the country of the Gauls, along with the fashion for everything French, including the language itself. The technique of the craft was borrowed by Europeans from China, where its history is lost in the darkness of centuries. In Europe, it quickly spread not only in France, but also in Germany, Spain, and Russia.

Russian birch

It all started with poor Chinese peasants who at least somehow tried to decorate their poor home. Nowadays, even more than wealthy people do not shy away from creating an original interior using improvised means. Creative workshops for children, focused on the art of decoration, have also appeared.

The simplest master class on decoupage bottles with toilet paper:

  1. Coat the bottle with glue. This can be done in parts, otherwise you will have to hold the base with your finger, pressing on the neck.
  2. Cover with paper at random, pinching small wrinkles.
  3. If you have multi-colored consumables, then at the same stage you can create a color background (blue sky, green grass).
  4. In the event that you only have one roll at your disposal or you decide to use large quantities of paint, there is no point in forming tones yet.
  5. Let the paper dry. You can even leave the craft until the next evening - this craft doesn’t like those in a hurry.
  6. Use a soft pencil or felt-tip pen to draw the contours of the birch tree. No special care is needed here.
  7. Mark the sun at the top. Here you can safely draw rays, because this is not a naturalistic picture, but a game, an invention. Scatter a couple of birds and clouds across the sky.
  8. At the bottom, outline grass, a few flowers, a mushroom family, and a hedgehog.
  9. Then there are several options of varying complexity: using thick paints to create a landscape drawing; Glue each line with rolled paper tubes moistened with glue; Model individual figures from paper.
  10. The most interesting effect is obtained by gluing the contours with tubes of different thicknesses (it is clear that the tree trunk, branches and grass differ in format) and then coloring them.
  11. After gluing the images, the craft should dry again.
  12. Now the draft needs to be colored. It's better to start with the background, large interior spaces. It is more convenient to go from top to bottom. There is no point in saving paint: the thicker it is, the more textured the painting will be.
  13. Once again, let the product dry and then coat it with varnish. In this case, a clear or beige varnish is suitable.
  14. If it’s the right season, then the craft should be decorated up to the neck with birch earrings.

Any varnish can both highlight the details of a craft and hide its flaws, but also vice versa. Even if something stood out (or disappeared) not as planned, it is always easy to explain the stroke by the subtlety and originality of the author's plan.

flower composition

Gluing bottles with napkins gives a similar option. The technique is almost the same. The differences begin if the composition is created on the basis of napkins with drawings. The style is determined by the theme of the pictures themselves.

A flower arrangement would look good:

  1. Apply paint to the prepared base. You need to start from the neck. For a spring meadow, blue, green, and light green tones are useful.
  2. There is no need to wait for final drying. Pieces of napkins with designs can be attached directly to the paint (but it is safer to use glue).
  3. Pictures can be arranged in one line or in a checkerboard pattern.
  4. When gluing, it is better to smooth the drawings from the center to the edges. This removes air and straightens out wrinkles. Even if the horizontal or vertical order is slightly disrupted, nothing terrible will happen.
  5. You can attract attention by not only making one floral background, but by highlighting the center of the composition. To do this, you need to select a larger image, which is additionally decorated with a frame made of tubes.
  6. Next, using bright colors, you should use a brush to frame the entire ornament, as well as its individual parts.
  7. After drying, coat the surface with varnish.

Any paper will do, even old newspapers. It’s just not very comfortable to work with them due to the presence of printing ink.

Before coating the craft with varnish, it can be decorated with sparkles and thin lace. The work will become brighter. This option is suitable for New Year's holidays. If the composition itself is more important, you shouldn’t make it sparkle.

Antique and modern

Art does not stand still. Ways to cover a bottle with paper are added every year. Hobbyists even create 3D compositions. And some people prefer the classics. It's probably not a matter of adherence to one style or another, but a desire to bring something truly unique to your home or office interior.

Pirate treasure

It is logical to decorate this craft in an antique style. Instead of paper, you can (but not necessarily) take burlap, stockings or tights. It is advisable to choose a darker varnish - this will make it easier to make the bottle more ancient.

To go for the treasure, you need:

  1. Soak the selected piece of fabric in PVA.
  2. Wrap the vessel in burlap or thread it inside a stocking or half of tights.
  3. Wrinkle the fabric a little, but without much enthusiasm, so as not to complicate the placement of the pictures.
  4. Stick or draw a compass, sailboat, or map of Treasure Island.
  5. Draw a couple of sea tattoos: anchor, mermaid.
  6. At the bottom of the composition, stick several images of ancient coins (they can also be drawn).
  7. “Scatter” a few shells and fish, pieces of twine spread at the ends between the coins. The shells need to be held until they are securely fixed to the material.
  8. Torn newspaper inserts will look good, in the lines of which words related to treasure hunting will be guessed.
  9. Apply the varnish by applying a sponge with varying pressure or with a rough brush. This way you can achieve the effect of unevenness and the appearance of cracks. If they seem not enough, add them with sharp movements of a sharp object (knife, fork).
  10. When the varnish has dried, apply a second coat, only this time carefully.
  11. Plug the neck with yellow or gray paper, which also needs to be patched. Another option is to seal with sealing wax or sealing wax. Scratch a beautiful monogram on the “seal” or make an impression.

For greater effect, in the center of the composition before the second stage of varnishing, you can place your own photo, designed in a graphic editor in a pirate style. If a natural ready-made photo is used, then even atheists should behave more carefully with it. You should not cut off your copy of an arm or leg.

Wide world of hobbies

The container can not only be aged, but also modernized. For this purpose, pictures and objects that reflect our days are used. A central pattern is also desirable here. It may be a larger version of some image of the main theme.

Modernity can be skipped through the world of your own fantasies, desires, hobbies:

  1. Stock up on unnecessary color magazines (you can download pictures from the Internet, but the effect will not be the same).
  2. Cut out photos and illustrations that fit the given topic. Let them be of different sizes. Approximate topics: sports or pop stars, cars, airplanes, beauties on the beaches.
  3. Cover the vessel with clippings in a random manner. Drawings can overlap each other and overlap at the edges.
  4. At the joints (but not at every one - this would be too much) the clippings should be supplemented with rhinestones, old SIM cards, images of electronic displays and banknotes.

The result will be a mini-map of desires in the original format. Theoretically, it can be manufactured in compliance with all established zones. But simply as a unique piece of furniture, the craft will be appropriate.

An interesting craft in a modern style can be made by pouring different bright colors inside. No need to shake the bottle, spilling the contents. On the contrary, you should calmly roll it in your hands until the colors are randomly mixed. This is an example of a unique interior decor.

From classic to avant-garde

The avant-garde is increasingly entering fashion, and not only in ancient Chinese (or French - whichever you prefer) technology. He is conquering new areas of culture and art. Decoupage of bottles was no exception.

Their design ideas are strikingly diverse:

  • Salt. Pour it into separate parts and paint it with paints. Dry. Mix if desired. If you have prepared a single mass of grains of color, simply pour it into the bottle. If you use parts of each color separately, then pour them carefully, one at a time. Coat the neck with wet salt and varnish. You need to take the coarser salt.
  • Cereals. No need to paint. It is enough to take several types of them. Pour inside in layers.
  • Semolina (or the same salt). With their help, you can make winter patterns on the container. It should be planted with glue and covered with clear varnish. To make the lines clearer, you can use snowflake stencils.
  • Leg-split. Dip it in glue and screw it onto a bottle or jar. Simply apply varnish and you will get an original decoration for your desk. But you can further decorate with drawings. A marine theme would work well: magic kites, anchors, life buoys.
  • Eggshell. It must be washed, crushed, dried, and placed on glue. It is not necessary to lay out patterns; you can draw pictures of any theme and fix them with varnish.

There are also more advanced and bold options. A wide-necked bottle or jar can be filled one-third full with flowers and filled with glycerin. Close with a nice lid. Such a composition should be kept in the dark for a week or two, and then put on public display.

Decoupage is good because it allows you to expand the scope of consciousness. He does not recognize clear rules and gives complete freedom to imagination. In addition, each product in this style will be unique, even if it was prepared according to instructions.

At the request of our readers, we prepared a master class in which we examined step-by-step how to decoupage a bottle with napkins with your own hands.

The lesson is suitable for beginner craftsmen of all ages. The basis is a gift for a man, hence the corresponding design. However, you can choose a different design and decorate containers of any shape using the same principle. Try it! It's very exciting, beautiful and really simple and fast!

Preparation of the material part

To do decoupage, prepare materials and tools:

  • glass half-liter bottle, the same as for the marine style and leather;
  • a three-layer napkin with a thematic picture (it’s better to buy a special one);
  • white acrylic water-dispersion paint;
  • PVA glue;
  • glossy water-soluble varnish;
  • a new sponge for washing dishes;
  • soft brush;
  • decorative rope;
  • large beads or pendants;
  • scissors;
  • nail polish remover;
  • cotton wool;
  • disposable containers for glue.

How to make decoupage from napkins on a bottle

First, soak the waste bottle in warm water for one hour to soak the label paper. Remove any paper from the glass.

As a rule, glue remains on the surface, which is difficult to wash off with water. To completely remove residue, use nail polish remover. Dry the vessel.

Cut the dish sponge into two parts.

Before decoupaging a glass bottle with a napkin, create a uniform background. This will hide possible errors when gluing the pattern. Apply white acrylic water-based paint to the surface.

Paint do not apply with a sponge, but make frequent tangential movements, as if “smacking.” Wait until the paint is completely dry.

Select a picture. A suitable option could be photos of cities, cars, all kinds of geographical maps, images of large and strong animals and fish. Consider the man’s character, his hobbies and your relationship with him.

If this is a loved one, then romance is acceptable; if it is a colleague or boss, then everything should be in a strict style. Carefully peel off the top layer.

Wrap a colored layer of napkin around the bottle and determine which fragment will be needed for decoupage. Gently tear it off with your fingers. You can cut it off, but then the edge will be clearly visible on the craft. It’s better to cut with a margin, and then tear off the edges.

Dilute PVA glue with water in a one-to-one ratio in a disposable container. Place the fragment face down on a stationery file. Gently stretching the napkin, apply diluted PVA glue with a brush.

Attach the drawing on the file to the glass. Carefully remove the file. Use a brush with glue to correct the drawing where necessary.

While the glue dries, prepare the pendant for decoration.

Since the image of one of the cities of Cuba was chosen, which at the beginning of the last century was the center of the gambling business, beads in the form of dice and chips were taken as pendants in this bottle decoupage master class.

Cover the surface of the craft with varnish.

Tie the pendant by tying several rows of rope around the neck.

Decorate the cork if you like. It also needs to be pre-coated with acrylic paint.

Today we have prepared another interesting master class called “Wine bottle in decoupage and aging style.” This bottle can be used both to decorate the interior and as a gift to a loved one, relative or even colleague.

To make it you will need an empty bottle of the original shape.

Be sure to wipe the glass with acetone (it will degrease the surface, which will allow you to make high-quality decoupage).

For a themed bottle, choose a napkin with a suitable pattern. A 25*25 cm napkin with a picture of wine, cheese, bread and grapes will come in handy. 1/4 of the napkin will fit well into the circumference of the bottle.

Next, paint the degreased bottle with white acrylic paint in two layers (the paint should have good hiding power so that the glass is evenly painted over).

Now, an unusual way of gluing a napkin. For the bottle decoupage technique, you can use not only special glue, but also the simplest means - an adhesive pencil. Apply a pencil to the round flat surface of the bottle on which decoupage will be done.

Wait until the glue begins to dry a little, and place a napkin on top, exactly in the center, smooth it with your hand. Immediately place the napkin evenly, because if it sticks, it would be impossible to tear it off.

Now tear off the fragment that has stuck from the whole napkin in a circle.

Now coat with acrylic varnish only the circle outlined by the bottle itself.

When the varnish is dry, use sandpaper to remove the excess part of the napkin (which is not stuck). Then, repeat gluing on the back of the bottle.

A wine bottle with decoupage turns out to be interesting. We begin to create aging effects.

First we make abrasions. Paint the entire surface of the bottle, where there is no decoupage, with burnt umber.

It is this color that will later appear in abrasions.

When the paint dries, arm yourself with a regular candle and rub the bottle with it, since the sides have a relief - most of the wax remains on the convex surfaces.

Paint over the brown paint with ivory acrylic. This color matches the tone of the napkin fragment.

After the light paint has dried, arm yourself with a dishwashing sponge and rub the hard side over the bottle. In those places where there was wax under the light paint on the bottle, the paint did not adhere firmly to the surface and it could be easily removed.

Very gentle and natural abrasions appear on the bottle. This is the first stage of turning a bottle into a rarity and aging it.

To fix scuffs, you need to cover the entire bottle with a couple of layers of acrylic varnish.

Now we start aging the decoupage itself, since the picture is too bright and does not match the worn side of the bottle. We will make cracks using Solo Goya two-component craquelure.

First we apply the first step of the craquelure pair - grundlak. We wait for it to dry almost completely, depending on the air temperature in the apartment (this may take 1-1.5 hours).

Then mix a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent with 5 milliliters of the second step of Solo Goya craquelure and wait until it dries.

When this layer dries, small cracks appear on the surface of the drawing. We make cracks sequentially on both sides of the bottle.

To make cracks look natural, you need to “show” them. Take light gold oil paint and use a cotton swab to rub the paint into the cracks.

Immediately wipe off excess paint with a swab; the paint will remain only in the cracks and the design will look like an old fresco.

Using the same swab, wipe along the sides of the bottle so that a little of the gold paint remains on them in a very thin layer. Leave the bottle overnight to allow the oil paint to dry.

While the paint is drying, work on the lid. Lubricate it with “Dragon” glue and wrap it with a hemp rope.

After the oil paint has dried, carefully wash off the second step of the craquelure under running warm water. The golden cracks have already dried and have not washed away; they created the effect of an old surface.

To finish the work, decoupage and aging the wine bottle, spray it with matte aerosol varnish. It will not shine on the surface and will emphasize the dullness of the old bottle.

And so, if you liked this way of making a gift to a dear person, then you are welcome to take a look at the next master class on making

More recently, in Russia, people began to relax during the New Year holidays with the whole family. Not only schoolchildren and students, but also the working population have the opportunity to visit relatives, take a walk, play sports and devote time to their favorite hobbies.
Decorating interior items using technology is gaining increasing popularity among the fair sex. You can decorate this way not only cutting boards, photo frames and other small things, but also bottles, for example, with champagne. These works will decorate the table, refresh it, and make it special. Even if you haven’t had time to master a new creative technique all year in the hustle and bustle, you can do this just on New Year’s days.
In this master class, we will consider the technique of direct decoupage from a file, in which we will apply the design on the bottle in a circle, overlapping edge to edge. When decorated directly with a napkin, the champagne will stand and not lie on its side, as when gluing a small motif.
Here it will be useful to define the terms used by the masters of this technique.
A motif is a drawing from a napkin or decoupage card that will be placed on the surface. Primer is acrylic paint or a mixture of paint with PVA glue, which is applied to the glass in the first and second layers.
For decoupage, PVA glue, slightly diluted with water, is usually used. It is also important to remember that when wet, the size of the napkin increases by approximately 0.5 cm on each side, which is very noticeable if you first apply a dry napkin to the surface to determine the boundaries where the motif will lie.

Materials and tools

The craftswoman should always have toothpicks, cotton swabs, sheets of paper or newspaper, and cotton wool on hand. All this can be found in every home. Pay attention to the reasonable arrangement of the workplace, to protecting your hands and face (especially eyes) from exposure to varnishes and paints. Therefore, it would be a good idea to purchase gloves, masks, etc. In addition to the above, prepare:
  • acrylic paints: white and pearlescent;
  • regular brushes, like those for watercolor paints;
  • a sponge sponge or a piece of dry dishwashing sponge attached to a clothespin;
  • acrylic lacquer;
  • the finest sandpaper;
  • acrylate putty for decorative work;
  • napkins of a suitable theme, I took New Year's ones;
  • artificial Christmas tree branches, real cones;
  • for artificial snow, foam balls;
  • PVA glue for paper and cardboard or construction glue;
  • scissors;
  • stationery file, preferably dense.

Inspiration, a creative message and free time, as well as a good mood, will also come in handy. The work may take several days, since each layer must be thoroughly dried, but using a hairdryer it can be sped up to several hours.

Beginning of work

Buy good quality champagne.

As in the case of remodeling an old one, before applying any type of coating, you need to remove the old decorative layers. When decorating a bottle, these are labels and excise stamps. First I soak the glass in water, then remove the label with a brush. Remains of paper and glue can be easily removed using vegetable oil and sandpaper, vigorously rubbing the bottle.

Choose a napkin in advance.

Before you start priming the glass, degrease it with window cleaner or alcohol.
Add PVA glue to the paint and prepare a foam sponge.

Apply the primer to the surface using small, dotted movements.

Two or three layers are enough. Let the bottle dry or dry it thoroughly with a hairdryer on all sides.
Now take some fine sandpaper and sand the surface.

During the sanding process, you will realize that the grain is not completely removed. In order to prepare the surface for decoupage from a file, take acrylate putty.

Apply the thinnest layer of paste to the bottle. To do this, take a plastic card from any bank instead of a spatula or just use your finger. You can also remove excess with a thread. The bottle should lie on its side.

Let's use the hairdryer again. The paste dries very quickly.

Cover the bottom of the bottle with it as well.

If necessary, brush the surface again. This is how smooth the bottle turned out in the end. Now she is ready to apply the motive.

Decoupage

The easiest way to decoupage for beginners is decoupage from a file. I chose a motif depicting New Year's balls, cinnamon, and fir branches. The pattern does not end on a quarter of the napkin, as usual, but is located on half, as shown in the figure.

If you wrap a napkin around a bottle, it becomes clear that you will have to turn it down a little. But let's not rush.
Make the edges of the motif uneven by cutting them off. Layer the napkin.

You may need to iron the motif from the inside out using the “silk” setting.

Place the colorful layer of the napkin on the file with the pattern down and start dripping water onto it from the top, from the middle to the edges. You want the entire napkin to be submerged in water. Essentially, when you straighten it, you will not touch the paper with the brush, you will touch the water, and the napkin will straighten itself.

Flatten the motif, expel the air from under it, the folds will straighten out. However, do not keep the napkin in the water for too long! The edges of the motif can be safely removed, since the paper has increased in size..
The motif on the file can be raised in this way, as shown in the figure.

Lubricate the bottle thickly with PVA glue; there is no need to dilute it in this case.

Now begins the most interesting and most difficult part of the work. Starting from the middle of the motif, lean the file against the bottle, but not all at once, but only the middle, and stroke the file with your hands up and down, and also slightly to the sides.

Next, you need to place one edge of the napkin on the glue and slowly separate it from the file. If necessary, straighten with a wide brush with water, but it is better to glue straight away evenly.

In the photo below you can clearly see that one part of the napkin is still on the file, and the other is already on the bottle.

Now overlap the rest of the napkin, adding a little glue. This whole process requires skill, attention and concentration. If necessary, carefully tear off the excess part of the image too.

Pay attention to the following photo. It shows that the last part of the napkin did not stick very smoothly, and when trying to smooth it out, the motif began to tear. At this stage, if this happens to you, it is best to exhale. Let the napkin dry naturally; a hairdryer will only do damage here.

Now glue the top of the napkin, which previously remained just in the air. If creases form, they can be removed later with sandpaper.
Select a color and complete the background using the same sponge.

While the paint is drying, prepare the artificial snow. To do this, mix white paint, PVA glue and semolina or such foam balls as in the photo.

Apply two coats of varnish to the bottle and let it dry. Before this, it was possible to depict patterns on the surface.
Cover the lid with foil and apply fake snow to it.

Finally, hide the bumps and seam of the napkin with a few branches of an artificial Christmas tree or tinsel. I also glued real pine cones and covered the branches with fake snow. You can attach this to a glue gun, which you can buy at the Fix Price store for no more than 100 rubles.

That's it, the beautiful one is ready!
